Dear Onomichi Kakien

Kakien, a persimmon grower and producer of processed persimmon products in Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, requested to create their own e-commerce site. The company originally sold its products on Rakuten Ichiba and Yahoo! As what we could do with limited resources, we built one new site (existing corporate site + in-house e-commerce site) and renewed the specifications and design of the Rakuten market.

We were told that they originally operated a corporate website, Rakuten Market, and Yahoo!

Strengthen existing e-commerce mall stores with sales capacity

Due to the small number of staff, it was not practical to manage two e-commerce mall stores for their own e-commerce site in addition to the existing corporate website. With limited resources (budget and human resources), we proposed a way to build a new in-house e-commerce site while prioritizing the renewal of the Rakuten page, which was expected to lead to the most sales.

Construction of new in-house EC + corporate website and renewal of EC mall store

First, as a way to secure a budget, we provided support for an IT introduction subsidy application, which was adopted, and we got started. Since the products were popular among repeat customers and by word of mouth, we believed that there would be many phone inquiries and inflows from search engines, so we built a new corporate site + in-house EC site to serve as a point of contact for these inquiries. We also renewed the Rakuten page, which leads to the most sales, with specifications and design that match the trend, and diverted its contents (photos and text) to the construction of the in-house e-commerce site, while keeping the budget low.

Understand internal resources and practice efficient EC operations

Our understanding of what should be prioritized with limited resources enabled us to build the site and produce the renewal efficiently. We are now able to look at cost-effectiveness and current resources objectively.

Orders came in soon after the site was opened.

Orders started coming in immediately after the site opened before the dried persimmon season. We believe that customers are satisfied with the ability to purchase products from repeat customers and from search engines.

Increase the number of products and make it a viable business

Sales are steady, but there is a strong possibility that the business will not be able to turn around at the current sales rate. In the future, we believe that we should increase the number of products, including purchased products, and enhance the product lineup on the site.
